Program Description: This program examines diverse nutritional needs influenced by individual clinical conditions. Topics include gastrointestinal disorders such as celiac disease, GLP-1 related sarcopenia, and the specialized nutritional requirements of critically ill and surgical patients, providing a comprehensive understanding of contemporary nutrition challenges and solutions.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the clinical challenges and possible solutions associated with clinical and nutritional management of celiac disease.
- Discuss the factors leading to accelerated muscle loss in high-risk patient populations and cite tailored interventions to prevent sarcopenia and frailty, promoting optimal health outcomes.
- Articulate the benefits and risks of planned nutrition interruptions in critically ill patients and discuss the current evidence surrounding the role of nutrition and prehabilitation in the perioperative period for esophagectomy.
